CENTER Agency Finished Work and Presented Research on its Comprehensive Assessment of the Development Potential of Derbent

On May 14, there was a meeting of experts from Agency for Strategic Development CENTER and representatives of Derbent administration. Deputy heads of the town Shamil Aliev, Arsen Sherifov, and Zaur Eminov, the head of the department of architecture and urban development Isa Magomedov, and the chief of staff of the town administration Oktay Feyziev took part in the meeting.

Specialists from CENTER Agency presented the representatives of the administration of Russia’s most ancient town with their study “Comprehensive Evaluation of the Potential for Development of Derbent Urban District, Republic of Dagestan”. As part of the research, the experts conducted analysis of the current social and economic situation in Derbent urban district, a comprehensive evaluation of the town’s potential for development, and developed scenarios for its territorial development, taking into account its material support and areas of economic specialization.

CENTER Agency CEO Sergei Georgievskii noted that over the last 4 months, CENTER experts painstakingly collected data and scrupulously analyzed it in order to draw conclusions important for the future of Derbent. The volume of data and conclusions was quite substantial: there are almost 300 pages in the final report.

It is not our first time in Derbent. Our expert group came to work with the residents of the city, with various specialists, and with the leaders of town institutions. We collected opinions about how the town should develop and did our best to take them into account in our work. We were faced with a challenge: to collect all the initial data about the town, systematize it, and find the potential and development opportunities that exist in Derbent,” emphasized Sergei Georgievskii.

The presentation of the research was followed by a serious professional discussion of the work with staff members of the administration of Derbent. They expressed their comments and suggestions for the document, which will be taken into account in the final version.
